Permission was given for Melosa (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
Melosa (GB), trained by Alice Haynes, had arrived at the start not wearing its declared cheekpieces and therefore was withdrawn at 17:55pm.
The Stewards interviewed the Raceday Assistant and the representative of Alice Haynes.
The Raceday Assistant reported that as Melosa (GB) was wearing a red hood in the paddock, they were unsure if the cheekpieces were underneath and therefore attempted to ask the trainer’s representative, who was leading the filly up, if it was wearing cheekpieces.
The Raceday Assistant was of the opinion that this was confirmed, however the representative reported that he thought the Assistant was referring to the paddock sheet.
As a result of this misunderstanding in the inclement weather, Melosa (GB) arrived at the start without its declared cheekpieces and Haynes was fined £140.
Following the race, the representative of J S Moore reported that Karismatique (GB), placed fourth, was never travelling on the Going, officially described as Heavy and would prefer a sounder surface.
