An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start involving Jeremiah Johnson (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Cieren Fallon, Tara (GB), unplaced, ridden by Nicola Currie, and COULDN’T COULD HE, unplaced, ridden by William Carson.
The interference was found to be accidental as Tara (GB) had edged marginally right-handed moving COULDN’T COULD HE off its intended line causing it to make brief contact with and turn the quarters of Jeremiah Johnson (IRE) which caused the gelding to edge left- handed and left the runners on its inside to be crowded for room.
Inside the final furlong the winner, Gilbert (GB), hung marginally right-handed causing the rider of Gargle (GB), placed second, to have to switch right-handed to avoid clipping heels and, as a consequence, gave Tawtheef (IRE) a bump.
After viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of any horse.
Following the race, Rhys Clutterbuck reported that Think Trigger (IRE), placed third, was slowly away, and Nicola Currie reported that Tara (GB), unplaced, was slowly away and never travelling thereafter.
