THE PAUL FERGUSON'S JUMPERS TO FOLLOW HANDICAP HURDLE RACE (CLASS 3) Peter Kavanagh, the rider of Heart Above (GB), appeared to ease his mount approaching the line to be beaten by a neck into fifth place.
When asked to explain his riding, Kavanagh explained that in his opinion, he hadn’t eased his mount until after he had been passed by Starlyte (IRE), placed fourth, shortly before the line.
Kavanagh also added that in his opinion he had lost no momentum and had obtained the best possible placing.
Kavanagh’s explanation was noted.
Following the race, Harry Skelton reported that Loriko (FR), placed third, hung badly right-handed from the second last hurdle.
