On what was going to be his final chance in a bumper, Good Time Bob came good. He led

before the straight and fended off Checkpointcharlie by two and a half lengths. Philip

Fenton said of the winning 'pointer,' "that was a long time coming and the rain today was

a huge help. He'll be a three mile hurdler when he returns at the back end of the year."

Checkpointcharlie ran a cracker and he has a good future on this evidence. Telenor, who

took the eye beforehand, is another for the notebook. Lurgan is a real stayer as he has

shown in the past. Derinlaur might have been expected to see out his race better after

travelling well. Easy-to-back Sean Purcell ran accordingly and Garra Beau (20s into 12s),

a stable companion of the winner, never looked likely.

Margie's Man (stiff) was a non-runner.
