Coming here last year I thought he had a good chance, but today I thought there were a few in there that probably had a bit more class than him, but you can’t beat honesty. Things are going well, we’ve had a great couple of days, and it’s always great to have a winner here on Derby Day at the Curragh. Fair play to Ben and the horse. He’s very consistent, he had a few little niggly problems but thankfully he came back. His last run was good. I’m glad Ben got a winner. He was looking at all the other guys having a winner in the yard so it’s great he got one today. I was feeling a bit pumped, it’s more relief than anything else because you know how hard it is to get here and how hard it is to get the horses here. Then everything has to go well in the race. It wasn’t the plan to make the running today but that’s what good jockeys do, take the initiative and ride them what way they think is best. That’s what Ben did today.

Dmaniac loves that ground, wants it pure bottomless and today was his Gold Cup, so we had to have him right. I told Wayne not to come back in if he didn’t win! I couldn’t see him being beaten, as with the ground and the light weight, everything lined up. There is a window with him on the soft ground and while I’d love to run him in the Scurry (Handicap), the ground will probably be too fast for him. He’ll run next week if there is something for him because it’ll dry up soon and he then could be off for four months. We had been praying for rain. He’s been a pleasure to train, there has never been an ounce of trouble with him and you want those type of horses. Wayne also said we could go back to five (furlongs) on that ground.

Quotes on King Cuan (GB)
Going to the Curragh I thought he'd run a big race and things didn't happen right that day. I gave him time to mature and to fill his frame and he confirmed today what he did in May. I think he enjoyed it and he is a quick horse. We are lucky to have some nice two-year-olds and I'd rate him with them. There is a €100,000 race (Goffs Sportsman's Challenge) next weekend at Naas for him and his owners are mostly Naas-based.

We thought he was very well handicapped at 91. Sure, you don't know until you try. You only think these things, but they don't always work out. I have him in Champions Weekend in the Northfields, but he'll probably come here for the Concorde now. Dropping him back to seven (furlongs) won't be a problem. He'll be rated 100 anyway, so I suppose handicaps are out. It's only his sixth run. His first run in Leopardstown last year, he was as green as grass. I only had him about two months. John was doing him himself at home and sent him on. He just done nothing but improve. He only won by half-a-length at Leopardstown the last day, but he could have won four. It was a comfortable half-length, an easy watch.

He’s a nice horse. I was delighted the ground change to soft because he is a Caravaggio and he actually grows a leg on soft ground,. We were very confident today. I had Colin Keane back on board, he won on him by seven-and-a-half lengths (at Naas back in April). He got a 16lb rise then so he said he owed us one!. He is in the October Horses-in-Training Sale. I will try and get black type with her next season. When she learns how to race, I think she will stay a mile and two no problem. Quotes on Princess Child (FR)
If any horse ever deserved to win a stakes race it was her, although you don't always get what you deserve. She met a bit of trouble in-running but hit the line strong and while it was a head-bobber, she had previously come out the wrong side of a few tight finishes in her career. We had been campaigning her aggressively to try and win a stakes race and while she built a load of black-type, to win a group race is great. I'd say it will be a career-best on the figures and I thought she won the hard way. She is a group winner now so it is job done although we might look to win another one now.
