That's unbelievable. It means everything really,. She deserved that, she's been knocking on the door a good few times. She won her maiden here so she obviously loves it here. We gave her a break after she won in Naas and it probably did her good. She got great confidence from winning in Naas, it was a nice handy run. We've only two horses to run and we ran the two of them today. Breeze-ups are our main thing. We couldn't get this one into a breeze-up so we had to run her. There is a fillies Listed race at the Curragh at the start of next month so that's probably where we'll go next. She doesn't mind an ease in the ground, she handles it. This doesn't happen too often to us.

This is a big relief as sometimes you are left wondering, am I praying to the right Gods! We had been placed in premier handicaps and group races, but have had no winner. It is like going to the mart and not getting any money for a calf. We were delighted with the way she ran at Killarney and hopefully this will turn the corner. In racing, you live with it and celebrate the good days. They'll eventually come back to form and my owners are forgiving as well, and have stayed loyal. We only have 35 horses, so to compete at that level in Ireland is very hard and then you see the entries for a stakes race with 58 two-year-olds, and 42 of them are O'Brien's. That's the way racing has gone and we're like the darts player with only one dart to throw. We don't know why the horses were out of form although we do have this new transition of vaccinating horses every six month, instead of nine, which might have had a bearing on it. Maybe we have to manage that a bit better.

We had her entered in the Moyglare but she got a little touch of sore shins six or seven weeks ago,. We couldn't run her and backed off her. Obviously when we entered her in the Moyglare we thought she was good. She's a nice filly, she was green today but she did it very well. She ran around a little bit when she hit the front but she was entitled to do that. She's never been away. It's great to have her for James and Charlotte (Musgrave), she was impressive. She's a very good filly. When she's working with anything we have she'd gallop all over them. She's still a baby but once she gets a bit of racing she'll be really good.

It probably should have been a double but I’d say the filly in the first just parked a little bit in front, and probably wants better ground as well. This filly is a different filly over five. She was drawn one and she ends up over on the stand’s side, she lost a lot of ground to come over but she needs cover. She just runs too keen over the six. She was a little bit unlucky in the Scurry and the last day, she probably should have been third or fourth the last day. She’s a hardy filly, I’d like to try and get a bit of black-type with her. There are no five furlong races but I might look at the Listed race next weekend (Brigid’s Pastures Stakes). I might look at taking her to France next year. She seems to want an ease in the ground.

Our horses are fit and well and often you’d look at the programme book, but there wouldn’t be the right races for your horses. It has all fallen right as there are races for my horses who go on the ground, and that’s basically it. They have been running well, are all in good form but the races are there for them. Staysound Susie loved that trip and had finished third over five (furlongs) here recently, which is too short. She was in the Listed race in Cork tomorrow but I said to the lads that she might only finish fifth or sixth in that but that she had a chance of winning a 30 grand pot here. We’ll try and nick a bit of black type with her as she’s going in foal this year because she’s starting to resent the stalls and things like that. She loves that ground, six furlongs and by putting her in foal, it might improve her a bit over the coming weeks. My other filly (fourth-placed Bint Majestic Roi) ran a cracker. She was the sleeper that I had in the pack, who was starting to work very well over sprint trips. She’s not bred for it, she’s bred to be a mile-and-a-half or mile-and-a-quarter filly, but she’s just been working well. Andrew (jockey son) got off her and said he thought she’d make a good sprinter.

Ben has been adamant to drop her back to six as she shows so much pace, I thought seven furlongs was a good trip for her,. She has pace and she’s getting faster with a bit of racing. Sometimes with these fillies when they get their head in front once it makes all the difference. She had five seconds so we were scratching our heads but she’s on a bit of a roll now.
