He was heavily supported when a beaten favourite (falling at the final flight when in third place) on debut at Cork in November but the form of that maiden is quite strong and he showed a useful level of ability in a similarly useful maiden at Navan in December. His latest start in a bumper at Leopardstown on St Stephen's Day was a disappointing one and while no excuse was publicly offered on the day, he was kept in training in the following months, being a non-runner on three occasions subsequently, up until June 17. He should take the beating as today's race represents a big drop in class. Western Rambler had shown little worthwhile form prior to his latest Gowran run and has claims if progressing from that run. That was a useful maiden hurdle and while beaten 33.5L, stayed on well enough at the end suggesting he could win races in time. Alfa Mix showed form on debut in his point-to-point and while his subsequent racecourse form is just ordinary, ran well enough at Roscommon latest. He probably needs to improve to win but has strong place claims. Formentera is a free-going French import who has basically disappointed on all her runs since her debut in France in July 2018. She hinted at having ability then when staying on late then but has since pulled too hard in her races, hasn't jumped with fluency at times and is difficult to fancy today, despite representing leading connections.
