He was just getting into contention over this trip at Punchestown when badly hampered by a faller two out and may gain compensation here in first-time cheekpieces. His trainer had a double at Cork over the weekend. Sea Music won a Ballinrobe maiden on hurdling debut last summer and ran well in a rated novice next time. Back from seven months off, he could go well on handicap debut. Pitwood Road has been doing well in Britain and could be well treated.%0A

Colm’s horses are flying and this is a tough horse. He won nicely in Punchestown the last day and Colm said he’d have a go at a good race with a light weight. We went a really good gallop which suited and all he does is stay. Colm said as long as you’re going a strong gallop he will pick up and finish his race. He will get further in time.

the ride wasn't by design as I lost my position but it worked out well. He is a bit lairy but it is a big drop in grade for him. He had been running terribly all winter and we gave him a freshen up recently. He was a good juvenile but they get killed by the handicapper and was a victim of his own success. He paid the penalty for the last year and a half. I said to Liam (Mulryan) about riding him colder and he has been working really well. I haven't seen Liam at a racecourse for 10 years so when I saw him today I knew he fancied him too. I'm delighted for him as he has been a loyal supporter since I started training. He always has two or three in training with me and I enjoy talking to him regularly on the phone. Originally the plan was to go Galway but it was Liam who made this plan - he said 'everyone wants to go to Galway but Killarney would do me'.

I had disease in my hay and couldn't understand how he got beaten at Limerick. He was cruising turning-in at Limerick, like today, but didn't get home. He'll probably go to Mallow for a Grade 3 novice hurdle at the weekend. Today's race was like a piece of work and he'll go on any ground. My owner is anxious to go chasing but I don't know if that'll happen because he is a novice hurdler until the end of November. We could go chasing in December, or later, maybe next season. I should probably keep his for chasing next season.

He's been very disappointing. He's had a few issues with his wind but he never made a sound racing. At home we felt he might just need a tongue-tie on him and it made the difference,. he has been disappointing but seemed to get his mojo back. Funny enough he ran two good races for Philip (Enright) before and then was disappointing and then he has ridden him again today. We thought he was a nice horse but he lost his way a bit. I think the track is important to him as he ran well in Navan and Naas and he needs more of a galloping track. If I had ducks at the moment I'd have to teach them how to swim because they might just drown! Things are improving though.

She is keeping the yard going for the winter and is a great mare. She was back over hurdles today and is probably a stronger, better mare this year. She had a lower mark over hurdles so we had to use it and Emily gave her a great ride and was claiming the 7lb. Jerry (Hughes) owns her and would like to breed from her so we might look for a bit of blacktype - she is worth a chance at it as she is one of the most consistent mares in training. Emily's uncle Ray (Cody, trainer) worked with me for years so this is great. We are all local and it is great to get a winner at the Christmas festival.
