The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the backstraight involving Ossifer Hops, ridden by J. Coen, and Gortmore Lady, ridden by Mr J. Costello where it appeared Mr J. Costello had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Mr. J. Costello stated that he was upsides Ossifer Hops when he came in on top of him. J
Coen stated that he was returning to his racing line and felt there wasn't enough room for a horse on his inside given the nature of the track. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found J. Coen was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his record in this regard (second offence), the Raceday Stewards suspended him for four days.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards (110 = 11st 12lbs)
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
