The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident in the closing stages involving Kalpana (GB), ridden by C.T. Keane, placed second, and Whirl, ridden by R.L. Moore, placed first, where it appeared they came close together. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted
R.L. Moore, rider of Whirl, trained by A.P.O'Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount shied away from the camera
The Raceday Stewards interviewed Brian Kavanagh, Chief Executive of the Curragh Racecourse, under the provisions of Rule 13 (i), in relation to the conduct of a photographer who was within five metres of the inside running rail approximately one hundred and fourty yards from the winning post who appeared to catch the eye of the winner causing it to shy from her. Evidence was heard from Brian Kavanagh who stated that he did not know who the photographer was but accepted that she should not have been there. Having considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards referred the matter, without prejudice, to the Referrals Committee for further investigation to allow Mr Kavanagh time to fully investigate the matter
