going up in trip and that better ground is what he wanted. It was holding ground in Leopardstown the last day, which he doesn't like, and I'd say he would probably go on better ground again. That trip (2m6f) give us options now and he has just taken a while to learn to settle before his races. He is A1 once he is going, but used to run his race before he ran. He is doing everything well now. We'll get him home, see how he is and we'll make a plan from there. His owners (Sandra and Peter McCarthy) picked this race out, so deserve the credit. The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined John Storey, trained by Ian Patrick Donoghue, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal

The Raceday Stewards interviewed Eoin Griffin, trainer of Lough Nigara, concerning the conduct of his charge who refused to race. Eoin Griffin stated that his charge can be very difficult. He added that he collided with the railing leaving the parade ring and upon arriving at the start was examined by a vet. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards informed Eoin Griffin that a repeat performance from his charge may render the animal liable to a suspension in the future

An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards that at entry and since the 1st November 2025 have run in a 110 benchmark handicap hurdle (120 = 11st 12lbs)
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
