Thanks to Ross and his staff and I've had an unbelievable year and had a horse finish second at 100/1 in Cheltenham. Even walking in today, there was a penny on the ground and I said to the lads 'pick up a penny and you'll have luck all day long'!. We won this race in 2010 and had a great night and we'll have a great night again tonight. The horses are on fire and when we started off training, Tommy came to us with a horse and has been with us since. You won't find a better owner and when your back is against the wall, this is the number one to look after you. We're pinching ourselves and are in shock at how well the horses are running. It doesn't last forever but we'll keep enjoying it while it is rolling. There are loads of lads similar to me that just need the chance. I'm also delighted for Tom Harney to get his chance as it keeps the whole team together and there is a great atmosphere and vibe in the yard at the moment.

He's a fine big horse, he has plenty of scope and the ground is beautiful out there. He disappointed us in Gowran the last day, but the ground was typical heavy Gowran ground. He won his maiden hurdle in Naas and then ran a nice race in Gowran. He was favourite there the last day, but just got stuck in it. I wasn't sure what way he'd go today, he had schooled great. It was just really to get his confidence back and give him something different to do. He was a bit guessy at a few. He has so much scope that he was kind of getting too brave. Two out he stood outside the wings and then he landed on his head. I'd say it knocked the stuffing out of him, he went from travelling really well to having to chase after him. He seems to handle that ground lovely, and country tracks, so we'll keep him on the go. He'll be a novice until November now. He won half a length there, so I suppose he (handicapper) can't be too hard on him. It was an ordinary race, although Clondaw Hollow had some good back form. It's nice to get the job done anyway.

They have nursed him back and he had a lovely run in a bumper in Gowran the last day, where Aine Connolly gave him a beautiful ride and said he’d come on a lot from it. Yeah, I suppose when she was 109 I felt there was a maiden hurdle in her. If we could go back, we would probably ride her very differently in a bumper. She always seemed like a filly that basically stays and it was only when we changed tactics with her in her maiden hurdles, when she was held up a bit, that she started finishing out her races better. There probably was a bumper in her if I'd known that. Simon said she didn't travel as well as she can. The ground is as quick as you would want for her. She might be starting in season as well. He said he was happy enough she would pick up from the second last. You'd imagine so (go down handicap route) and see what the handicapper does. As long as the ground stays relatively good, she won't be in it for the winter.

He's a nice little fun horse, and he's after winning three or four for Albert (Dravins),. He's a summer horse that wants fast ground. Hopefully if he gets in next week (Galway), he'll run again. Getaway Charlie was out of form but dropped down the grades and had cheekpieces on today. He seemed to be coming into form at home, he travelled and jumped everywhere, they went a good gallop early and that suited. He likes to be passing horses and everything worked out well. I probably got there a bit soon but I was going so easy I said I may as well keep going with him. It’s great to ride a winner for my father. That’s my 7lb claim gone as well and it’s great to do it for him. I’m at home three or four days a week and you can see all the hard work that goes into it. It’s hard to come by winners in Ireland so it’s mighty.

He likes it here, he won over the same distance at the May meeting last year, and was unlucky not to win here in October when he made a mistake at the last. For a Flat-bred horse, he stays very well. He had to come wide into the straight for the final time, but doesn't like being around horses anyway. There's no forcing him, you have to let him find his feet and wait on him to go. He needs a bit of time between races, so he'll get a little break and probably come here next month or in August. Easy side of good is fine for him, but he wouldn't like it any slower.

I’m delighted with that, he’s a grand sweet horse,. The girl that works for me, Sarah (Lionti), rode him in a charity race at the Curragh and he really came alive after it. He really enjoyed it and it sharpened him up, over a mile-and-a-half. I’d say if you followed those charity races and watched the horses on their next runs they are very sweet because the jockeys can’t hit them and they enjoy it. Sarah knows him well. She’s been with me on work experience as an equine vet physio and she’s been a great help. He had a good run in Downpatrick but he just got outpaced. Sean knows him well and gave him a lovely ride. He travelled so sweet today. I think we might go to Galway with him, I think there is a 0-110 for him. He should be well handicapped back over fences as well. He's a lazy gent. I thought with the heavy rain that came it wouldn't help him,. I thought he wanted better ground but he handled that well so I'm not so sure I was right. Phillip said he wouldn't handle heavy ground. The blinkers helped him as he was very sleepy in his races. Even when he hit the front today Phillip had to keep after him, he wouldn't do a whole pile. It's a good way to be. He holds condition, he does the same work as any other horse at home but at the same him he carries weight. He stands in the stable, eats everything and jog around the gallop at home. You'd say he wasn't put the effort in but hopefully that will all change after getting his head in front. I know the race cut up but I thought he had come on a good bit and he kept going. We'll go for another handicap and he can jump a fence as well.

Ethan gave him a great ride but unfortunately his grandad died yesterday, so it will give his family a lift,. He wanted to ride today and this is his first winner for me, which is great. Ethan started off with me as a Flat apprentice, moved home to Waterford and is now back with me for the past couple of weeks. Live To Laugh has been very consistent and is knocking on the door the whole time. I thought his first run over fences was good and he was then unlucky when a horse jumped across him here in January (causing him to fall).
