He’s a nice horse, he did it well,. He won well in Down Royal when we didn’t really fancy him, we didn’t know much about him. I thought he was gutsy today because he was headed and came back, he was tough. I suppose we’ll probably end up going for a novice at Galway now. I thought that was even a better performance today because he had to do all the donkey work in front, he was headed and then had to come back.

his Galway run was over two miles where his owners wanted a runner, and things went wrong having made mistakes. He just wasn’t right after the race so we gave him time and he is back to himself. There’s no doubt the further he goes, the better he is and while he also was in the three-mile hurdle earlier this week, I felt he had too much weight for a young horse. He’ll stay three miles and is a big horse who will also jump a fence. He is a nice horse to have.

We didn't know what to expect, so it was a pleasant surprise. You could see him over three miles, he will make a nice chaser. We'll get him home and we'll see where next, he wants a bit of cut.

I'm delighted, he's been consistent. We had him in the maiden yesterday (at Naas), it looked competitive enough and this was probably the better option. He's honest and is after winning in his own bracket there, which is great. He's a horse that didn't show a whole lot on the Flat, but jumping has brought him out of himself. He's only rated in the 50s on the Flat. It couldn't happen for a better owner. Tommy Ward is as good a man as you'll get and it's great to get a winner for him at his local track. He'll probably get a little bit further in time. He wasn't a superstar on the Flat, but he seems a more consistent, and a better horse, jumping. He might win another little handicap somewhere along the way.

That was grand. He doesn't do anything flashy at home but he has a good attitude and you'd like the way he went there,. I'd imagine he'll come back here for the Dublin Racing Festival but to be honest I'd say he's more of a Fred Winter horse than a Grade 1 horse. He'll need another run to qualify so he'll probably end up coming back for that and that will tell us where to go. We have one or two nice ones at home to run. We're a bit short this year but have a nice horse that came from France, he could probably end up coming here for the Grade 1.

We treated him for a few issues and he’s come back after a good break showing plenty of ability. He likes that good ground and Denis gave him a peach. All his form was on soft ground and I wouldn't have liked to run him on Wednesday on the rattling ground,. Lets Go Champ was second to him in Limerick and he won the equivalent race on Wednesday so the form was there in the book. He's been progressing away all season. He won his handicap in Galway and he got in off 131 which was a nice weight. His jumping was super and just kept taking him there without using any petrol. The first two pulled well clear. That will be his last run of the year. I want to give him a break as he's had five runs now. He's only seven and he could be a Munster National horse or one for the Paddy Power.

It’s always great to get a double, I think that’s the first one in my name,. We dropped him back to two and a half (miles) today knowing that he should get that. I was a bit surprised how easily he won it, taking on the horses he was taking on. He always had the ability. We’ll see where we got with him now and see what the handicapper does. He was 124 today and we’ll have to see where we go now next time, whether he’s good enough for some of the novice races. We might stick him in and see.

We’re delighted. Things have turned quick,. I thought the horses that were favourite might have more pace than our horse, and that we’d probably end up being second or third. . I was wrong and I’m happy! . He might have made a mistake at the last, but he was foot perfect before that. . I think we have a chaser with a bit of ability. He's a fine big horse, he has plenty of scope and the ground is beautiful out there. He disappointed us in Gowran the last day, but the ground was typical heavy Gowran ground. He won his maiden hurdle in Naas and then ran a nice race in Gowran. He was favourite there the last day, but just got stuck in it. I wasn't sure what way he'd go today, he had schooled great. It was just really to get his confidence back and give him something different to do. He was a bit guessy at a few. He has so much scope that he was kind of getting too brave. Two out he stood outside the wings and then he landed on his head. I'd say it knocked the stuffing out of him, he went from travelling really well to having to chase after him. He seems to handle that ground lovely, and country tracks, so we'll keep him on the go. He'll be a novice until November now. He won half a length there, so I suppose he (handicapper) can't be too hard on him. It was an ordinary race, although Clondaw Hollow had some good back form. It's nice to get the job done anyway.

Exactly, the 7lb off (claim) just levelled it there. He was impressive there and did it very well. Eoin thought he had gears there again today, so he is probably versatile enough. It is nice to see him do that on a bit of softer ground as well. That is soft enough out there now and it takes a bit of getting. We won't rush him, we won't overface him but he is a nice horse to have and hopefully he keeps progressing.

We always thought he was a nice horse and we bred him as well. He was born the night of the famous storm, the Beast From The East, and we nearly lost him. I was watching the mare on camera and next thing a wind ripped through the place and we lost all our power and I couldn’t get the generator working. The foal was half out and was on his last breath when we got to him. That’s how he got his name from the storm. The longer trip probably helped him today, although Phillip said there's no need to go up any further in trip. His jumping is brilliant and he quickened up well.

That was brilliant. We just decided to change things around completely today. We thought he’d run well the last day in Navan. It was a decent run, but I thought he just raced way too lazily. I thought there wasn’t much pace in the race and that he was fit, so we’d try and ride him very prominent. Now I look clever, maybe I wasn’t too clever the last day. It’s great that it worked out really well. He jumped well and he raced lazily in front, so he kept getting breathers. We’re having a great run thankfully. I had an idea that I’d send him to the ladies race in Limerick over Christmas and go back to dropping him in a little bit, but after that I’m not quite sure. We might look elsewhere, maybe Punchestown on New Year’s Eve.

We’re happy with that, he’s eight-year-old so he’s entitled to it,. He’s a funny horse. I went to Ballinrobe with him in the summer and he got jarred up, we thought he wanted good ground but I wasn’t happy with him when he came home. We ran him at Punchestown over three miles and felt he just didn’t get the trip. We thought we’d go back to two-and-a-half here and it obviously worked. Kieren said he definitely doesn’t want heavy ground either. He was well entitled to win one, we felt, somewhere along the line. Hopefully we can get another one out of him somewhere. He said the first half he wasn’t travelling for him but he said when he gave him a smack across the top at Ballyhack and said ‘get into the race a bit’ he tanked with him then. I’m happy that he put his nose in front eventually for us.

That was great. He stepped down to a handicap. He got injured last year. Brian Pierce has been a great supporter of ours down through the years. I’m delighted with him. He’s a huge horse and I’d say it’s only now he’s coming fitness wise. He jumped brilliant. He had been jumping too high but the two lads, Donagh (Meyler) and Keith have been schooling him over the round hurdles at home. They let him rip last Sunday week and he jumped very well. He’s a chaser in the making, hopefully. I’ll say we’ll get another run into him over hurdles, it will depend on the ground. He’s so big he’d definitely want a cut. They are unbelievable and every year when I need a dig out or when I find a horse which isn’t massively expensive, they keep going and buying. Their appetite for jumps racing is just incredible and they are a lovely family. His jumping was brilliant today but hadn’t always been that way. Simon (Torrens) gave him an unbelievable ride around Tramore the last day where the fences are smaller, and I think he got a lot of confidence from it.
