Fifty claims Hilly Way on memorable day for Elliott Found A Fifty completed a fabulous four-timer for Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy at Cork today as he lowered the colours of Majborough in the BAR 1 Betting Hilly Way Chase. Jumping again proved an issue for Majborough in the Grade 2 contest as he went down by a length-and-a-half in the two-miler. Mark Walsh made the running on the 4/6 favourite but he was sloppy in the back straight and jumped left at a couple. He blundered two from home when joined by Found A Fifty and the Bective Stud-owned gelding soon had the advantage. Majborough was almost on terms again at the last but Found A Fifty asserted on the run-in to supplement his win in the Fortria Chase at Navan just under three weeks ago. Elliott said: "We had fitness on our side and rain that fell suited us. He stayed going well and it is great to win those pots. Today might have been our day to catch Majborough napping. He is a great horse and that's his level.  "To be fair, Majborough made mistakes so handed the race to us and today might have been our Gold Cup. It is a great race to win and this is my first time winning it and he wins a big race every year, so we are lucky to have him. "He is in at Leopardstown over Christmas so I'll talk to Noel and Valerie (Moran, owners) and see." Willie Mullins reflected afterwards:- "I was disappointed with his jumping as it didn't hold together going down the back, and he paid the price. I am hoping that that run will bring him on. I was hoping he'd jump a lot better so it is a bit disappointing.  "He will just have to improve his jumping to be competitive at that level.  "We should be able to get to Leopardstown over Christmas with him if he recovers nicely from this race." Regarding yesterday's TIngle Creek winner Il Etait Temps, he added:- "It was a tremendous performance and I had just been hoping that the Celebration Chase (in April) wasn't a freak run from him.  "He has put his stamp on the two-mile division and hopefully can retain that for the rest of the season." Paddy Power made the winner a 14/1 shot (from 33/1) for the Champion Chase at Cheltenham. Il Etait Temps is now 3/1 favourite (from 7-2) while Majborough was eased to 5/1. Marine Nationale is a 7/2 shot (from 4/1). (Quotes by Tom Weekes)
