Formscan By Tom Weekes - It is difficult to look beyond either VAUBAN or Pied Piper, who are closely matched on a December maiden hurdle meeting. Pied Piper won that race narrowly and while an impressive winner over course and distance subsequently, VAUBAN beat better rivals to score at Leopardstown last month and might eek out the required improvement to edge past today. Fil Dor was second in that Leopardstown race while Porticello was a Grade 1 winner over Christmas but the placed horses were well held in Tuesday's Fred Winter Hurdle. Knight Salute beat Porticello at Doncaster in December and while he has won three Grade 2s, faces his toughest task.
