Formscan By Mark Nunan - Emily Upjohn was undeniably unfortunate not to land the Oaks when stumbling at the start and having a much wider trip than the short-head winner Tuesday. The latter ran respectably in the Irish Derby and Epsom third Nashwa went two places better in the Prix de Diane, so John Gosden’s Musidora winner will take plenty of beating. As ever with unlucky losers, though, her price is plenty short enough and she’s taken on with Ribblesdale winner MAGICAL LAGOON. The half-sister to King George winner Novellist, who relished the step up to 1m4f at Ascot, can confirm form with third-placed History and further improvement will see her go close. Her trainer has really hit form this month. Of Aidan O’Brien’s trio, Ryan Moore surprisingly rides Toy, an also-ran in two French Classics, whereas Emily Dickinson, second to the very progressive Rosscarbery over 1m6f at Leopardstown, makes more appeal on form.
