Formscan By Mark Nunan - DERRY LAD is open to more improvement and will enjoy this more galloping track after finishing third at Ballinrobe. That was in a lower grade but he’d previously won a Sligo handicap of this sort of standard, where he stayed on strongly over 1m2f. The presence of Julie Burke, who has enjoyed plenty of success in the United States, in the plate is a bonus and although softer ground would be preferable, he’s unlikely to be found wanting for stamina. There’s no doubt Extensio is handicapped to win more races and he was a big eyecatcher when second to a subsequent winner over 1m7f at Leopardstown. He was third under this rider in a similar course and distance contest last year. Kazakdaria was third to a subsequent Listed winner on her comeback at this venue and might have a class edge on her rivals if building on that. Dual-purpose performers Wild Shot and Hidden Land both come into the race in fine fettle and are others for the shortlist.
