Formscan By Eamonn Murphy - ARVIKA LIGEONNIERE doesn't make it easy for himself with the racing style he employs but he's not easy to take on here. Over the course and distance a month ago, you felt sure his free-going and jumping to the right would ultimately prove costly. The French-bred has a huge engine though and he had enough left in the locker up the run-in to see off today's rivals, Oscars Well and Benefficient (fourth) by two and a half lengths, a half a length and thirteen lengths. You can be sure that better minds than I will come up with reasons why Oscars Well, chiefly, or Benefficient might reverse form now. However, there is a great deal to admire about Arvika Ligeonniere, he has a pretty safe looking method of getting from one side of a fence to the other and despite the small field this race promises to be an exciting spectacle.
