Formscan By Eamonn Murphy - I'd find it hard not to row in with one of J P McManus' five runners here, in what looks a bit of a puzzler, and with just a feather-weight to contend with, CARLINGFORD LOUGH gets the nod. Out of a dam, Baden, that won five, Carlingford Lough is a half-brother to good horses such as The Tother One and Thisthatandtother – he's done his bit for the family name already, by winning four – but he promises to win a lot more as a mere seven-year-old. A little bit hampered at one stage by a faller, the selection didn't really get the run of the race over an inadequate trip at this track at Christmas, and in the circumstances he ran satisfactorily when seventh behind Jacksonslady. You'd like to see him strong in the market now, if making an investment. This is a prestigious race and no doubt connections would like to see their names on the roll of honour. Hidden Cyclone is the class horse of the line-up but it'll be a seriously commendable effort if he is able to concede weight all round. Organisedconfusion should make a bold bid to reach the frame – at least. Sweeney Tunes, Glam Gerry and Sweet My Lord are just some of the others to consider in a competitive heat.
