FormscanBy Tom Weekes - DEBUCHET has finally found his true vocation as a chaser and the 2017 Cheltenham Festival Bumper runner-up can defy top weight here. He was a high class bumper performer but flopped as a hurdler, losing 11 times before being sent chasing at Fairyhouse in November. He won nicley then and followed that with another good effort when second in an Ascot handicap chase in December. He steps up three furlongs today, which shouldn't prove a problem and will be well suited by soft ground. Mount Hanover is a lightly raced 9yo who ran a solid race on handicap chase debut at Wexford in October. He has been hit with a 5lbs hike for that effort but should nonetheless go well again today over similar trip and ground. Minella Till Dawn was a beaten favourite when a final fence faller (when fourth) at Navan latest and while clearly frustrating to follow, should go well today as a capable type at this level. Great Khan is another frustrating type to follow in that he has won just once and finished second seven times but comes here fit and well and in good form and could again reach the placings.
An extended handicap steeplechase for five years old and upwards (130 = 11st 10lbs) Weights - Top weight in the original handicap shall not be less than 11st 10lbs Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap shall carry 5lb extra for each steeplechase won.
