Formscan By Gary Carson - EIGHTEEN SUMMERS ran out a cosy winner dropped back to a mile at Cork last Tuesday and can defy a penalty here. He was due to come down a pound for this so effectively has a 4lb penalty and looks good value for that judged on his win the other night. Romiac ran out an easy winner at Galway and seemed to appreciate the step up in trip then. The handicapper hasn't missed him with a stone hike, however, and although there may be more to come he'll find life tougher now. The race cut up badly in which Katimavik was second in at Leoparstown last time but it was still a decent run and an improvement on his previous showing. Having been dropped 2lb since he has to have a big shout. Bishan Bedi hasn't run since scoring at Dundalk in March and looks to have plenty of weight on his return while Kings Ryker battled well to score in Naas last time but a 4lb rise may be enough to hold him now.
An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (95 = 10st)Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra; for each race won. Any horse rated above 95 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 95 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse.
