Formscan By Eamonn Murphy - Eleven years ago to the day, NEAR PERFECTION'S dam, Instant Queen made a winning racecourse debut here at Limerick, with John Thomas McNamara up. The five-time winning champion point-to-point jockey and top man in the senior ranks for the past four campaigns, is still a rider to be reckoned with and he has a huge chance in this on Near Perfection. After winning three 'points,' J P McManus purchased the Oscar seven-year-old from Mark Molloy. Reported to be in need of the run when starting out for current connections at Lisronagh a few weeks back, Some Present's last fence departure left Near Perfection in command to beat Whitty's Choice. Make no mistake, Mark Molloy isn't prone to unduly talking-up his horses – he always said Near Perfection was a good one – so I for one will be disappointed if he can't beat these. Goonyella has to be respected given his connections but I'd prefer to side with the older Near Perfection. There's no doubt that Goonyella is progressive but he'll need more to score here. On his best, Clount's Native would come into it and he's equipped with cheek-pieces. Johnnyofcourse definitely has the form to challenge for a place in the frame and a similar comment applies to Nevskij.
