FormscanBy Tom Weekes - DEFAN won at Listowel in September and being somewhat unexposed as a 5yo, is open to improvement. Raised 8lbs for winning, he is ground-versatile, likes this distance and had Benefit Run 16.5L behind in Listowel. Benefit Run was an unlucky loser at Sligo and while well held at Listowel, is a course and distance winner who has claims on best form on a sound surface. Fine Brunello is interesting, being a one-time Grade 2-placed juvenile hurdler. Useful on his day, his recent form has been underwhelming but is rated just 116 over fences, compared to his career best hurdles rating in the mid 130s. Nine year old Golden Jewel has raced just five times over fences and while absent since June, is nonetheless rated 18lbs lower over fences than hurdles and was second on his previous handicap chase run at Clonmel last December. Top weight Ask Nile wasn't beaten far at Wexford while seven-time winner Tesseract was well held at Galway but had previously shown useful form when second at Tipperary. Ricky Langford has been in excellent form in recent times and will be suited by a sound surface.
