The Cheveley Park-owned gelding hardly put a foot wrong building up an unbeaten record including five victories at Grade 1 level prior to his fall at Cheltenham last month. That uncharacteristic mistake is easily forgiven and the real question to be answered here is his ability to stay this longer trip. Monkfish, like the selection, was a Grade 1-winning novice hurdler at the Cheltenham Festival last year and has taken really well to fences this term winning all four starts, although his jumping was far from flawless when successful again at Cheltenham last time. On ratings Colreevy actually tops the list in receipt of 7lb. However, she’ll surely need a career best to come out on top, while Franco De Port is also a Grade 1 winner over fences stepping up in trip.
