Formscan By Eamonn Murphy - There are grounds for believing that handicap first-time ANOTHER TEMPEST has a chance here. Firstly she's a half-sister to some good horses, most notably the Royal and SunAlliance Novices' Hurdle hero from 2004, Fundamentalist. Secondly Another Tempest herself has shown enough ability to suggest that she'll pick up a race or two at some stage. Thirdly she's tried in cheek-pieces now for the first-time. Further pluses for her include the fact that she has a feather-weight on her back, she has a competent young claimer in the plate in Kevin Sexton and of course Fairyhouse is one of Lady Fowler's local tracks. You could put forward solid cases for many of Another Tempest's rivals, principally perhaps, last time out course and distance winner, Smart Money, Corbally (short headed on his last outing) and Norah Star (caught in the closing stages in a decent heat at Leopardstown on Hennessy Day).

Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 11st 10lb
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each hurdle race won. Any horse rated above 116 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 11st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 116 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any four or five year old rated above 116 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
