THE "POINT TO POINT" BUMPER NATIONAL HUNT FLAT RACE (CLASS 4) (AMATEUR JOCKEYS' RACE) (GBB RACE) Permission was given for both Call Me Ken (IRE) and Run Happy (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
College Road (IRE) wore earplugs throughout the preliminaries which were removed upon arrival at the start.
Handsome Stan (GB) was kicked at the start by another runner.
Having been checked by the Veterinary Surgeon, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
Approaching the winning post with a circuit to run, WELL THIS WON’T DO (IRE), unplaced, became tight for room between Oxo Called (FR), unplaced, which lugged right-handed and Maiden Over (GB), unplaced, which edged slightly left-handed, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
It was noted that on the bend leaving the back straight, Run Happy (GB), placed fifth, appeared to make contact with the running rail and subsequently became badly unbalanced.
Entering the home bend, Oxo Called (FR), unplaced, hung right-handed despite its riders best efforts causing WELL THIS WON’T DO (IRE), unplaced, to lose its position when tightened for room ultimately clipping heels and stumbling and subsequently making contact with the winner, Wise Maiden (GB), which became unbalanced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, Mr Harvey Barfoot-Saunt reported that Oxo Called (FR), unplaced, stopped quickly.
