J.S. Dalton, rider of Shafters Legacy, trained by Andrew Slattery, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount rolled around under pressure

D. Browne McMonagle, rider of Mr Montauk, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was hampered after the road crossing

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident shortly after the road crossing involving Shafters Legacy, ridden by J.S. Dalton, and Mr Montauk, ridden by D. Browne McMonagle, where it appeared D. Browne McMonagle had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D. Browne McMonagle stated that a gap appeared and as he got into it he was hampered. J.S. Dalton stated that his mount lost her balance crossing the road and as he was returning to the rail he wasn't aware of D. Browne McMonagle until he heard a shout. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found J.S. Dalton was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his clean record in this regard, they suspended him for four racedays. In arriving at their decision the Raceday Stewards took into account the severity of the incident.

An extended handicap for two years old only (70 = 9st 12lbs)
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.
