Finegan pulls the strings on Puppet Master
He’s a horse that we gave a good few quid for (£78,000) in the autumn and he wasn’t really working out, we had a few issues with him along the way,. He was well dropped in class today. He jumped really well and travelled lovely. I’m not sure how much more was left in the tank, but he’s getting confidence and he got the job done. It’s lovely to get it here at Kilbeggan. He’ll mix it away, he was bought to be a dual-purpose horse. Hopefully he’ll build from that and get confidence. Maybe he’s going to be a nicer horse next spring. We’ll have to give him a chance now. As I said, it wasn’t a straightforward road with him, but with the help of a big team we are getting this lad right and it’s rewarding.
La Cote Fleurie is blossoming for de Bromhead
It was a good performance, we’re delighted with that. She stepped forward from her maiden, she won her maiden over two-and-a-half in Limerick. I thought there was plenty of depth to the race this evening. They went a proper gallop all the way, she settled in well, and jumped super. I love the way she quickened off the bend, down to the last. She’s a nice filly. She’s not that big but she jumps really well, and she handles that bit of ease in the ground as well. I’m delighted for Nicola (Coppez â sister of owner Peter Fitzgerald) and everyone involved. We’ll see what options there are for her, but she’s entitled to take the next step forward.
Bap Syndicate quids in with Bhean Saibhre
She likes the likes of Kilbeggan and Ballinrobe, these little tight tracks, and a nice bit of good to yielding ground,. Peter gave her a great ride as well. She did very well as she got hampered between the second last and last, I thought we had lost our chance. She obviously has a big heart.
Dad dominant at Kilbeggan
It think he’s a smart horse, to be honest,. He’s just so big and you can see why he didn’t run until now. He had a real good run in Galway first time out. Jack said he was only going around there in second gear the whole way. It was hard to find a race for him but he’s a nice horse. He’s a big staying chaser down the road and he’s for sale.
Gilligansvoyge grabs another win for Carr
I thought it was a bit quick for him, after last week, but we brought him to the strand at Laytown on Wednesday and he absolutely flew up it so we said we’d take our chance again,. The ground changed a lot on him and didn’t really suit him as he wants really good ground. They didn’t go that quick early on and it gave them all a chance. It was great to see, it’s his third win this year. I don’t think there is much rain coming so it might dry up again. We’ll keep him going as long as he’s in good form. There is a race in Ballinrobe for him in about a fortnight’s time. He was placed there before so we’ll try and go there next.
Charlie beats Charlie at Kilbeggan
Just a Kilbeggan double for Murphy this time
It’s fantastic to back up the last night here,. All winter this fella has been showing the right signs. We thought he ran a cracker in a very hot bumper at Galway. He freshened up lovely and we were really pleased with him after, so we said we’d come and have one go here. It’s lovely to have a nice four-year-old coming through, that’s able to win a bumper. He has a helluva attitude. He got knocked around plenty again today, as he did in Galway. That will make a man of him now, and he’ll only come forward from that again. He’s won his bumper now so we’ll sit tight and won’t panic, we’ll just see where we are with him. I’d say he’s a horse for better ground and he could be an exciting horse for the spring. He wants decent ground.
