Permission was given for Big Apple Jack (GB) and Rift Valley (IRE) to both wear a red hood to post.
Shortly after leaving the stalls, Lyra Constellation (IRE), unplaced, hung right-handed causing Rift Valley (IRE), placed fourth, to lose racing position when being crowded room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider several pieces of interference in the first 1½ furlongs, involving Lyra Constellation (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Ray Dawson and Vault Of Heaven (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Oisin Murphy.
The interference was found to be accidental in that Murphy was having difficulty steering the free running Vault Of Heaven (IRE) due to his saddle slipping, causing him to bump Dawson on multiple occasions, which resulted in Lyra Constellation (IRE) becoming notably unbalanced.
The winner, Sole Spirit (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Southwell on 19 December 2024, where the gelding was pulled up.
The representative of Bryan Smart’s explanation that Sole Spirit (GB) had lost its action on its previous run at Southwell and was subsequently given a 6 month break which has benefited the gelding and allowed him to strengthen up, was noted.
Sole Spirit (GB) was routine tested.
Following the race, Ray Dawson reported that Lyra Constellation (IRE), unplaced, was slowly away; and Oisin Murphy reported that Vault Of Heaven (IRE), unplaced, ran too free and that his saddle slipped forward shortly after the start.
