Prends Garde A Toi wins a thrilling finish in Naas opener
We knew he wasn't right after Punchestown but, to be honest, I thought if we finished third or fourth it was a good run today. He had fitness on his side and Jack was brilliant on him. I'd say he is more of a three-mile handicapper down the road than a graded horse, but job done - another winner.
The Big Cloud up and running over fences
She did her pelvis on Thyestes day in Gowran and has been off since. We had her well-schooled on the Curragh and it’s worked out grand. She’s a gutsy mare. She jumped well overall and it was a big ask in a handicap first time out. We were running on the same mark she has over hurdles, so there should be another day in her over hurdles. Hopefully, she’s ok after this.
It's Bobsled Time for Morrissey at a whopping 250/1
Elliott and Kennedy at double with Open Secret
It was a good performance. He’d a good run the last day in Wexford (runner-up) and probably should have nearly won, but he stumbled at the back of the last. He stays well and Jack said he loved that ground.
Shellrunforbriggs a poignant winner for connections
Maurice Sheehan is part of the syndicate and the horse is named after his brother Danny, whose nickname was Briggs, and who passed away last year so there is plenty of emotion involved. She’s progressing from race to race, and we don’t know how good she is. She was finishing strong the last day in Fairyhouse, and she loves soft ground. She’ll jump a fence.
Oldschool Outlaw outguns favourite for Elliott/Kennedy treble
You should never be afraid of one and if you were afraid of one every day, you’d never run. In Ireland you can’t duck and dive - there is no hiding place. I thought it was a good performance albeit we had fitness on our side. Jack said she wasn’t for passing and said she was very gutsy. He felt she was in front too soon. I think she’ll be better over a bit further. We knew she was jumping well at home and she had a couple of runs in point-to-points.
River Vale gives Winters a brace of winners in Naas
He’s a fierce kind horse and everybody is mad about him, and anybody can ride him at home. He got a hard race over three miles at Fairyhouse and we might have run him a bit soon in Mallow. I’m delighted for the lad who rode him because he’s in (riding out) seven days a week.
Tiktok Casey delivers on track debut for Fahey
Bunny and Lorraine (Murphy) own her and it’s the first horse they have had together. She’s a nice filly, is only four, and you won’t see her for a while. We’ll give her a little bit of a break and see where we go. She has a great attitude and is a nice horse to have going forward. Hopefully there is a good bit of improvement in her.
