THE REG AND BETTY TWEEDIE HANDICAP STEEPLE CHASE (CLASS 3) (GBB RACE) After an initial false start, the start was effected successfully on the second attempt.
However, having reviewed recordings of the false start, the Starters were satisfied that no riders should be reported for contravening the starting procedures.
An enquiry was held into the start of this race and the participation of Red Happy (FR), ridden by Jonathon Bewley.
The rider and the Starter were interviewed and shown recordings of the start.
The Stewards considered that the gelding should be deemed a runner as Red Happy (FR) had every opportunity to jump off and was mounted as the start was effected, before its unruly behaviour resulted in the gelding refusing to race.
