THE DM HALL SURVEYORS HANDICAP STEEPLE CHASE (CLASS 4) (GBB RACE) An enquiry was held into the start of this race and the participation of Red Happy (FR), ridden by Jonathon Bewley.
The rider and the Starter were interviewed and shown recordings of the start.
The Stewards considered that the gelding should be deemed a runner as Red Happy (FR) had every opportunity to jump off and was mounted as the start was effected, before its unruly behaviour resulted in the gelding refusing to race.
The Stewards considered the unruly behaviour of Red Happy (FR), which had refused to race after the tapes had gone up.
As the gelding had also been unruly and refused to race at Kelso on 20 April 2026, George Bewley was informed that any future similar behaviour from Red Happy (FR) may result in the gelding being reported to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
