Important winner for Staples in Tramore's opener
He has been consistent at a level all season and, back down in grade today, I suppose he was entitled to win it. It was an opportunity to a win a race and whatever will be, will be. If he's not sold we can mix it with him, he is open to run in anything.
Hard watch for favourite backers but Path lands the odds
Time Is A Thief much too good for rivals
I'm delighted with that, it's our first winner for the Syders and the Burkes. He is a lovely horse and he did it nicely. The hood seemed to help him a lot. He was just a bit keen in Cork the last day. He is still very babyish and I even thought going around there today he looked a bit green, but he did it nicely in the end.
Just For You strikes for the Murphys
That's my second track winner. I had my first on Winter Fog (April, 2021). His last two runs were disappointing, but we knew he was back in good form. He had a very good run at Limerick over Christmas. We ran him at Gowran then and we shouldn't have ran him on the heavy ground there. He scoped dirty after his run the last day. The lads riding him at home said he was flying. The trip was a bit sharp for him today, but he stayed on well up the hill. He's work at home has been very good.
Blinkers wake up Finegans' mare
The blinkers were a big help and the step down in grade into this 100 bracket. We've been very disappointed with her because she was a good mare early on. She just had a few little niggly problems and we have them all ironed out now. She is a good mare and I think she can go on from this. I just said I'd use her class and go out in front. She has won a bumper and a maiden hurdle, so she was entitled to do what she did today in that company.
Ira Hayes a fortunate winner for McConnell
We needed a change of luck as we've had a horrific April. This is probably his minimum trip and we had to force him a bit, which probably didn't suit him. He is really a galloping horse, but it was just the conditions of the race suited. We got our bit of luck and I'm delighted for the lads (Ira Hayes Partnership) seven-year-old, they've been very patient with him. He hit the line quite well, he wasn't tired or anything. Danny said that up in trip you'll see a better horse. Hopefully, there is fun to be had with him.
Fenton's Lake Chad loves the seaside
I Walked The Line lands the cash
I picked up a ban at Cheltenham and Luke has been with us a couple of years, he is a brilliant rider and a fantastic horseman, so I was delighted to give him a chance and he took it with both hands. He is a good horse and I'm hoping he'll be an Aintree, Cheltenham horse next year. We might go to Stratford with him this year at the end of May. It fits in well. He is only five and he'll be six for Cheltenham next year, so he is young but hopefully we'll have him for a couple of years. If you have a Billaway type and can go to Cheltenham, Aintree and Punchestown every year, they are some great races. We are looking for a replacement for Billaway and he might be it. A better-jumping replacement!
