The winner, Abbeyhill (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Fontwell on 6 October 2023, where the gelding finished eleventh of twelve runners, beaten 65 ¾ lengths.
Neil Mulholland’s explanation that the gelding had benefitted from its recent run and that in his opinion, this was a less competitive race, was noted.
Elizabeth Gale, the rider of Pilbara (GB), was unseated turning into the back straight.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
It was found that no other horse or rider was involved and was caused by the gelding stumbling.
