The winner, Charlie My Boy (IRE) appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Southwell on 15 November 2024, where the gelding finished eighth of nine runners, beaten 29 ¼ lengths.
J R Jenkins could provide no explanation for the improvement in form other than that Charlie My Boy (IRE) had benefitted from a long layoff.
The performance of Highway One O Five (IRE) which started favourite and was pulled up, was considered.
The Veterinary Officer examined the gelding post-race and reported that Highway One O Five (IRE) had been struck into on its right hind.
Following the race, Beau Morgan reported that Minella Double (IRE), placed second, clipped the heels of Highway One O Five (IRE) and stumbled shortly after the start.
