The apparent improvement in form of the winner, JOHN CLARE (IRE), which had never previously been placed, was considered. Pam Sly was interviewed. She stated that JOHN CLARE (IRE) is a wayward sort, who hung badly right-handed on its last run at Nottingham. She therefore fitted a ring bit on this occasion and she felt that the colt benefited from today's straight seven furlongs. Her comments were noted and the colt was routine tested.
Report following an enquiry into the improvement in form of JOHN CLARE (IRE) Dougie Costello reported that CUBAN SUN, unplaced, was slowly away.
