com HANDICAP HURDLE RACE (CLASS 5) Ballynoe Boy (IRE) wore earplugs throughout the race.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, Ballynoe Boy (IRE), ridden by Danny McMenamin and No More Bolero (GB), placed second, ridden by Harry Cobden.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Ballynoe Boy (IRE)’s placing as the initial contact half a furlong out was caused by No More Bolero (GB) moving right-handed off its racing line, which gave a light bump to Ballynoe Boy (IRE).
Thereafter on the run to the line there was contact between both runners, causing them to become slightly unbalanced with Ballynoe Boy (IRE) holding No More Bolero (GB) by half a length at the line.
The Stewards therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
The interference was found to be accidental as No More Bolero (GB) initially lugged right-handed giving a bump to Ballynoe Boy (IRE) before being quickly straightened by Cobden, and thereafter it was deemed that interference had taken place between both runners becoming unbalanced and leaning on each other on the run to the line.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Papillondelumiere (IRE), unplaced, finished lame on its right-fore.
