The Veterinary Officer reported that VIEUX LION ROUGE (FR), trained by David Pipe, appeared to show evidence of possible administration of a substance on the left side of its neck on its jugular vein. The Trainer and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed. Pipe explained that the gelding had blood taken for analysis yesterday, 7 December 2018. His explanation was noted. Being satisfied that VIEUX LION ROUGE (FR) had received only normal food and water by mouth on the day of racing, the Stewards allowed the gelding to run, and ordered VIEUX LION ROUGE (FR) to be routine tested.

Having been checked by the Veterinary Surgeon and the Doctor, both horse and rider were deemed fit to race.A. W.
