I know he was on the back of a bad run over fences, but he doesn't jump fences as well (as hurdles), he's just a bit deliberate at them and he's losing ground at every fence. We just made the decision we would stick to the hurdles going forward. We put the blinkers on him and applied more positive tactics, and Mark gave him a lovely ride there. He got a nice run up the inner and it was probably the winning of the race. We were at the right end of the handicap and took the five off him. We will see what the handicapper does, he was up around the 123/124 before and kind of struggled a little bit. When you win that kind of a pot, you will take your penalty. Eoin Griffin, trainer
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident before the second last hurdle involving Set Point, ridden by J.W
Kennedy, placed second, Wajaaha, ridden by L.A. McKenna, placed fifth, and Wouldn't You Agree, ridden by M.M McDonagh, placed first, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, L.A. McKenna stated that he was upsides Sea Point on the approach to the second last hurdle when Wouldn't You Agree came up to join him from off the track and blinded his mount, he also stated that his mount received contact from Wouldn't You Agree and that he let a shout at M.M McDonagh
J.W. Kennedy stated that he was upsides Wajaaha when the incident started and that he felt that M.M. McDonagh came up the inside of both horses which caused interference to their mounts. M.M. McDonagh stated that there is no inside rail and he felt he had plenty of horse and enough time to get passed Wajaaha before the wing of the second last hurdle. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found M.M. McDonagh, was in breach of Rule 214 in that they had ridden carelessly, and having considered his record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended M.M McDonagh for four Racedays
