Point-to-point handler wins Curragh's season-opener
it was a good performance and we thought an awful lot of this horse. He had worked with a couple of the older ones and was showing signs that he could be very good: we hadn’t anything able to work with him at home. We were hoping he’d improve plenty for whatever he did today as he hasn’t been away from home a whole lot but we did think an awful lot of him. He got a small bit lonely out in front and Luke gave him a great ride. This race usually throws up a real good horse and that’s what we think this horse is. We haven’t thought beyond today but he’ll be offered for sale - if he’s not sold we’ll dream with him.

Tormey's tactics work on Smoke Them Out
we thought he’d run well, we had a nice bit of work done with him and he acts on that ground. We were in two minds whether to claim off him but took (Tormey’s) 7lb off, as he hadn’t dropped since his last win. He’s a right old money spinner and an ease in the ground is important.
Mudlark Dmaniac bags ‘his Gold Cup’ at the Curragh
Dmaniac loves that ground, wants it pure bottomless and today was his Gold Cup, so we had to have him right. I told Wayne not to come back in if he didn’t win! I couldn’t see him being beaten, as with the ground and the light weight, everything lined up. There is a window with him on the soft ground and while I’d love to run him in the Scurry (Handicap), the ground will probably be too fast for him. He’ll run next week if there is something for him because it’ll dry up soon and he then could be off for four months. We had been praying for rain. He’s been a pleasure to train, there has never been an ounce of trouble with him and you want those type of horses. Wayne also said we could go back to five (furlongs) on that ground.
Pollenca bags maiden success
I expected that, to be honest. She had a nice run in Dundalk where she probably should have won, as she ran green and we decided to put her away for this race. I’d have been disappointed if she was beaten as she’s a nice filly. He got caught a bit further back than he wanted but was always going to win once she started rallying. I think she’s a nice filly and she’ll have stamina to stay a mile and maybe 1m2f. You could say she’d go for a Guineas trial but I think she’d be better at a mile. That seven furlongs is the least she wants and today’s (heavy) ground made the difference. The owners (Halley family) are sellers so I might not have her too long.
Ribee gives Mulvany a second Lincoln success
I won this race previously with On The Go Again (in the 2018 renewal, at Naas) and we knew this fella would take a lot of beating. In those conditions, he’s a hard horse to beat and this has been the plan since last backend - the Lincoln was the goal. He was travelling all the way and I was just a little worried that he had hit the front a bit early, but we knew he’d get the trip well. He’s a grand big horse and that’s what you want for those conditions. I’m delighted for the owner/breeders (Lee Regan Partnership) and this is the first horse they bred, so they had to keep him, and he’s been lucky. We booked Declan McDonogh, as Gary Carroll couldn’t do the weight and I feel sorry for Wesley (Joyce) who is stable jockey but the owner wanted a senior lad. We’ll probably have to go again shortly with Ribee, while he has his ground.
