THE MOLSON COORS MARES' NOVICES' HURDLE RACE (CLASS 4) (GBB RACE) Stuart Coltherd was fined £80 as one of his employees did not have an identity card to gain access to the Racecourse Stables and had to be issued with an emergency pass.
An enquiry was held to consider the unruly behaviour of Raincloud (GB) which had refused to line up and was subsequently withdrawn by the Starter.
Michael Chapman and the Starters were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
As the mare had also refused to line up at Cartmel on the 19 July 2025 and Southwell on the 2 February 2026, the matter was referred to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
The winner, Big Gypsy King (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Cartmel on the 27 May 2026 where the filly finished fourth of seven runners, beaten by 40 lengths.
James Moffatt’s explanation that Big Gypsy King (GB) had settled better on this occasion having been running on the flat prior to its previous run was noted.
The filly was routine tested.
Following the race, Jamie Hamilton reported that Crokes Cross (IRE), which was pulled up, was never travelling and the Veterinary Officer examined the mare post-race and reported that it had finished lame on its left-fore.
