Run For Mahler goes one better to score over flights
She probably repeated her Listowel run as she beaten by probably a graded mare then. She got in under a few hurdles today but it is her first day racing over the new white hurdles, so hopefully that was the reason.

Tassarolo tops Tatateo to give Hogan a Thurles '1-2'
Gavin gave Tassarolo a very good ride and while he has only ridden a few horses for us, he had won a maiden hurdle on this horse and is a talented young rider. Gavin rode Tassarolo the last day and knew him, so we kept riding arrangements the same. It was a great result for me and while it was hard luck on the owners (Final Reminder Syndicate) of the runner-up, both horses ran well. The two horses are very similar and there were a lot of people asking me ‘which one?’ today, but they are similarly rated and really I couldn’t split them. Both were going up in trip but it was just which one would see it out better, and the winner did. Tassarolo is owned by our local publican (in the Full Of Hope Syndicate) and unfortunately one of the members John O’Shea passed away the day the horse won his maiden hurdle. He has a rating of 62 on the Flat so can go back to there too so there are options with him.

Hewick makes winning seasonal reappearance
Paddy said he took a good blow at the top of the hill but I knew he would, as he is only back in training seven weeks. He got one blow in the Curragh and my own new gallop at home is very good, but he said he'll improve a lot from it. He is a dream horse and he loves it. . I'd like to see Paddy staying on him for the year but T J (McDonald) might have different ideas. We'll see but I think the two of them have a bond and when a horse has a bond with a jockey, I'd love to keep it together. That's up to T J though. He has the Betvictor Champion Chase in Down Royal or the Charlie Hall in Wetherby next but it depends on the ground. Today's race will put him spot on and we're going wherever there is goodish ground. I know he is a 10 year old but I feel he is better and stronger this year and he has put a backside to himself now. he was beaten only 18 lengths in the Grand National and while I wondered whether he stayed the distance, hitting the third-last knowing the stuffing out of him. . Every race is an aim but why not try the Grand National again. He is a great people's horse and I met so many who were here to see Hewick today.
13 proves anything but unlucky for Alright Darling
She is an honest mare and carried her lightest weight ever today. Philly (Donovan) thought he was coming back at the leaders at the last, and in fairness, she did gallop away from the rest of the field. She is by Walk In The Park and her dam is a sister to (Cheltenham Gold Cup winner) Lord Windermere so it is a good pedigree. She was bought to go breeding, that'll be her job and we'll see where we go from here.
