J.C. Gainford, rider of Hob's Angel, trained by James M. Barcoe, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was badly interfered with at the top of the hill before the second last hurdle
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident turning into the home straight on the final circuit involving Mother Ship, ridden by P. Hanlon, unplaced, Cathys Quest, ridden by J.P. Shinnick, unplaced, Hob's Angel, ridden by J.C. Gainford, placed fourth and Glorious Singer, ridden by C.M. Hogan, unplaced, where it appeared Hob's Angel had to take a check. P. Hanlon stated that things became tight on the bend. J.P. Shinnick stated that he felt he had a clean run and maintained his line. J.C. Gainford stated that he had to take a check when things became tight
C. M. Hogan stated that his mount was back peddling coming into the home straight. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted
