An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference half a furlong out involving Sir Runs A Lot (GB), placed third, ridden by Alain Cawley and Pepperdew (USA), placed fourth, ridden by Ben Godfrey.
Being a 7lb claimer, Godfrey was accompanied by a senior jockey.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Sir Runs A Lot (GB)’s placing in that Pepperdew (USA) was carried only slightly off a line and lost no momentum as a result of the interference and Sir Runs A Lot (GB) was always holding Pepperdew (USA), with a neck between the runners at the line.
They ordered the placings to remain unaltered and the interference was found to be accidental as Sir Runs A Lot (GB) shifted left before being quickly corrected.
Following the race, Ross Chapman reported that Gold Fields (GB), unplaced, hung left.
