Permission was given for Naasma (IRE) to go early, wear a red hood to post and be mounted in the chute.
Having reviewed the start, the Stewards were satisfied that Meleri (GB) had virtually refused to race as the start was effected, was very slowly away, losing considerable distance as a result and was therefore deemed to be a runner.
Pat Cosgrave, the rider of Meleri (GB), unplaced, had appeared to use his whip in an improper manor when in the stalls.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Cosgrave was suspended for 2 days for improper riding.
The winner, Raintown (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Wolverhampton on 23 June 2025, where the gelding finished sixth of twelve runners, beaten 16 ¼ lengths.
J S Moore’s explanation that the gelding had benefitted from being ridden more patiently, was noted.
Raintown (IRE) was routine tested.
