An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, Ilaraab (IRE), ridden by Ben Curtis and Throne Hall (GB), placed second, ridden by Andrea Atzeni.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Ilaraab (IRE)’s placing as in the initial stages both horses drifted left independently and the intimidation only occurred in the final half a furlong and as a result, Throne Hall (GB) never appeared to lose any momentum and was beaten by a neck.
Curtis was cautioned for careless riding as approaching the final half a furlong, he failed to take sufficient steps to stop his mount from drifting left under a right-hand drive and intimidating Throne Hall (GB) off its intended line.
Andrea Atzeni, the rider of Throne Hall (GB), placed second, was suspended for 2 days for using his whip in the incorrect place on the run to the line.
