Tim Easterby had obtained prior permission from the BHA to run Storm Ahead (RE) with no hind shoes.
Permission was given for Yes My Boy (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start and for Dubai Mirage (IRE) to wear a hood in the parade ring only.
Nicklaus (GB) wore earplugs which were removed at the start.
Approximately 1 furlong out, Yes My Boy (IRE), placed fourth, shifted quickly left-handed away from the whip for one hit which caused Red Bond (IRE), unplaced, to be tightened for room on the rail, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Yes My Boy (IRE).
Following the race, Paula Muir reported that Club Wexford (IRE), placed third, was denied a clear run approaching 2 furlongs out.
