An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line involving the winner, Cuban Pete (IRE), ridden by Robert Dunne, and Jean Genie (FR), placed second, ridden by Charlie Price.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Cuban Pete (IRE)’s placing as Jean Genie (FR) appeared to lose no momentum and always looked to be held, with the distance between the two runners at the line being a neck.
Dunne was cautioned for careless riding as he was inattentive in allowing his mount to shift right-handed, carrying Jean Genie (FR) off its intended line.
This in turn caused Jean Genie (FR) to jink left-handed around the water jump shortly before the line, giving a bump to Cuban Pete (IRE), but this was found to be accidental.
