Soaring Sun scorers in Dundalk’s opener
Moyassr on the mark for Flynn and Grant
Moyassr got a good ride from a low draw. It was a game performance back over that trip as he doesn't do a lot in front. It was good that he held on. He got a little injury on his heel over Christmas, so he is coming back from that.
Another Day Done leads home 1-2 for Joseph O’Brien
McDonogh delivers on day for ‘limited winners’
my son Kyle claimed him the last day so it was her stable debut, although it was about time we did something right! That's our third winner and we have in-and-around seven or eight horses in training. We are in Donegal and come here often as this is not too far away for us. to have a jockey of Declan’s quality today is amazing and you have all that man’s experience. He's a good man and a good jockey.
Two And Two beats ‘4’ in Dundalk upset
we thought a bit of her at home but didn't learn a whole pile about her the last day. She broke very quick then from a wide draw but Nathan took her back to get her to switch off, as she can run a little free. We concentrated on switching her off but probably ended up shuffling too far back. It wasn't ideal, we ended up wide so we put a line through her run as we always liked the way she worked. She was working the same way prior to today and with racing, she has naturally improved. She'll definitely get seven furlongs and will probably get a mile.
Returning Rutledge bags Dundalk winner
Hurdling Horgan on the mark at Dundalk
Hugh is more than capable, he gave that horse a lovely ride because he isn’t the easiest and can be tricky. He got him into a sweet rhythm and did everything right. Limestone Red has been very consistent but the handicaps up here are very tight, with the draw having a big impact. I'm not making an excuse but he has had bad draws all along, . He has done it and I’m delighted for Mr and Mrs Hendron (owners) who have been great supporters of mine and it is a good way to start the year.
Gunner strikes as Hughes bags a second success
we have around 20 horses for breaking, pre-training and everything like that, and had a point-to-point winner last Saturday in Tinahely. I’m delighted as he deserved to win a race and am delighted for Danny (Coogan, owner) who also bred the horse. Danny was loyal in keeping going as he had been running badly through the summer. He likes the all-weather, so hopefully he will win another one. That is Patrick's first ride for me and we picked him to take the 7lb (claim) off because he is quite high in the handicap.
