- Stewards Report
Permission was given for Mr Gambino (GB) to go early to post.
The raceday privilege request in relation to Mr Gambino (GB) was not submitted.
John David Riches was warned as to his responsibility to ensure that all raceday privilege requests are submitted by 1pm on the day before racing.
Having reviewed the start, the Stewards were satisfied that Vocal Ring (IRE) had refused to race once the stalls had opened and the gelding was therefore deemed to be a runner.
As the gelding had also refused to race at Kempton on 12 March 2022, Milton Harris was informed that any future similar behaviour from the gelding may result in the horse being reported to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
Aidan Keeley, the rider of Vocal Ring (IRE), drawn 6, had been slow to remove the blindfold.
His explanation that the blind got momentarily stuck on the bridle and took two attempts to remove was noted.
An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after turning into the back straight, involving Nachos Cheese (IRE), placed second, ridden by Thore Hammer Hansen, the winner, Jenny Ren (GB), ridden by Gina Mangan and Gold Standard (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Mollie Phillips.
Hammer Hansen was cautioned for careless riding as he had angled right-handed for a run leaving Jenny Ren (GB) short of room and causing Mangan to take a slight check and in doing so took Gold Standard (IRE) off its intended line.
Following the race, Mollie Phillips reported that Gold Standard (IRE) had no more to give.
